This is not a blog of “why me!?” It’s really crazy out there right now and we all have our trials we need to get through so think of this more like a diary entry or a status report. I’m sure many of you have asked yourselves many times over the last few days..”How are things with Gary and Georgia?”?
Things suck.
We look at our calendar and all the shows we’ve had for the next month are cancelled. That really hurts, since a major part of our income now has to come from live shows thanks to Spotify. We especially feel terrible for the venues, many of which are telling us that if this keeps up they may go under. We feel bad for all the people who work at these clubs and need the weekly check to pay the rent. We really hope that banks and landlords cut people some slack during all this. We especially feel bad for US because we love to play for all of you. (Look for a follow up that might have a solution to this particular dilemma.).
Georgia drove to do two shows, one in Louisville and one in Cincinnati….she got a half hour out of Louisville and they both cancelled. It was the smart thing for them to do but I wish they had done it while she was in the driveway.
I went out for breakfast two days ago. Crazy, right? I thought I’d be the only one in the joint. I thought I’d go in, ask if everyone working there was healthy… take a few temperatures rectally and then dine in a corner in splendid isolation.
The place was rocking. It was a small establishment, only about fifteen people so I wasn’t that worried. Apparently neither were the fifteen other diners. It was morning as usual and it made me feel a little better.
I don’t have underlying conditions. I feel really weird that, after hearing my whole life that the “elderly” have to take extra precautions”… it sucks to realize that “the elderly” is 60 and over and that is me. Yikes.
Writing appointments cancelled. Babysitting cancelled. We have plenty of paper products. I gave Georgia a bidet for her birthday (yes, I am THAT romantic) so we are fine with toilet paper.
I just did the session for my new CD so I have that to work on all week while I am stuck at home. The session came out amazing so I will be putting on more guitars and singing and doing harmonies and stuff like that. That will fill my hours.
Also the free HBO is pretty nifty.
