review of "Reunion"
Do you remember when the Beatles played in Central Park? You will after you read Reunion: A Rock and Roll Fairy Tale by Gary Burr.
Gary is a respected songwriter, singer, and musician. I’m grateful to know him as a cowriter, a bandmate, and a friend.
And now, he’s an author.
“What if…?” Gary asked—and then he imagined events leading up to a fictional Beatles concert based on his knowledge of how a tour comes together, what happens at sound check, and what it’s like to step onto a stage and hear a crowd roar. As fans, we learned about the quirks of each Beatle. Gary captured them—and when the lads from Liverpool speak on the page, you can hear their individual voices.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by life and the news, this book is a respite. And then you’ll swear you were at that concert.

review of "Reunion"
Gary Burr’s love for the Beatles and their music comes through loud and clear in his new book, Reunion. I have a feeling his yearning for a happier ending to their story than the one we actually got is resonating with a whole lot of people these days… I suspect Gary’s time spent playing in Ringo’s All-Star band gave him the advantage of knowing the lads firsthand, experiencing their senses of humor for himself; and even having had a taste of their angst from time to time brings color and authenticity to their dialogue in his book.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable book for those who loved the Beatles the way we did back in the day, and even continue loving them on into our own day. Something about their magic imbues this book with just enough Beatle-ness to make Gary’s rock ‘n’ roll fairytale nostalgia trip take us back in time, and really entertain, if only for a moment, the “what if?” of the book’s premise.
And in that moment, like the memory of a first kiss, the joy of their music came back to me in full color. Thank you, Gary, for reminding me of one of the sweetest times of my life, and of the possibilities of reconciliation and Reunion.

Spencer C.2024-10-27 Refreshing, uplifting, sentimental, exciting, brilliant! What a wonderful "Rock and Roll Fairy Tale" Gary Burr has given us. Once I began reading, I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter, the next page, the next paragraph. I felt like I was getting to know each of The Beatles in a more intimate way than any fan could hope for--their personalities, their quicks, their creative processes, their soft spots. If you are even a casual fan of The Beatles, you will love this book. You will hear their songs playing in your head. You will see them in your mind's eye. You will feel young again! Thank you, Gary Burr.Spencer Christian Roswell, GA2024-10-14 If You Love The Beatles, Buy This Book. I just finished reading Gary Burr’s “Reunion.”I was lucky enough to buy the book from Gary, autographed, after a show near Atlanta Ga.In truth, my husband bought me for me. I saw Gary at his table after the terrific show with his lovely, talented wife Georgia Middleman.I loved the show, and I was surprised to find out that Mr. Burr had performed and written with Ringo, and how did this Beatle fan not know THAT?!Still, I saw the book, and I was skeptical, and I am notoriously tight with my money. But my terrific other half took one look and said it was clear that I had to read this book and he bought it for me, and next thing I knew I was standing in front of the author and having him autograph it. And I am SO glad he did.I admit that tears came to my eyes several times while reading “Reunion.” At other times I chuckled and laughed. It is a wonderful fantasy, and it really doesn’t matter that it is fiction. In my mind and heart, it is true. Damn it, crying again. If you care about The Lads, put this in your cart. Now. PMA2024-10-06 What an amazing book, I’ve now given several copies to friends I had very low expectations for this book, thinking it was just another quickie Beatles book to cash in on the ever-expanding Beatles universe, especially since the Get Back documentary and the recent release of the so-called “last” Beatles song. But after only a few pages, I was totally hooked. The author, a notable songwriter and musician (who I had never heard of), has a perfect grasp of each of the characters, their personalities, and their idiosyncrasies. He has worked with Ringo several times, and I suspect that first-hand contact may have allowed him to put a final polish on the book in a way that another author couldn’t have done.As a result, this fantasy, this so-called “adult fairy tale,” is, in fact, a very realistic alternative history of what we all wish had been.I love this book. wa2024-09-26 Best Dream Ever An enjoyable ride and read! If you ever thought of What If the Beatles had reunited--this book is a wonderful fantasy tale. I enjoyed this book so much I ordered copies for friends. As an author, I appreciated the author's talents. He is a musician and friend of Ringo, so he conveys the nuances of what that magic could look like. I smiled at every page. Matt Creeks2024-09-18 This is a fun ride! I'm not a big book reader, but I saw Kenny Loggins post about this on FB and, after reading the "elevator pitch", I knew I would blow through it. In fact, I took it with to read on a trip to LA. Sadly, on my return flight, I left it somewhere in the Denver airport (I know whoever found it, enjoyed it). I got another copy and had it the day after I returned. It's a great mix of Beatles lore and this "alternate universe" concept that we see in movies. In fact, this reads like a movie (can't wait to see that). Plus, there is a nice twist that I didn't see coming. So now I'm shouting to anyone that will hear me to get this book. (see what I did there? twist and shout?) Get it, read it, and tell others to do the same! Chris Moreno2024-09-08 if only it were true But Gary burr captures all the details of the reunion as if it were really happening! I enjoyed reading about the different relationships between the lads and their families. Easy fun read, especially if you are into music and the Beatles! Jeff G2024-08-29 Great story with all the right feels Loved it - great story arc, with some great moments of joy, laughter, tears.Recommended.A quick & great read. EvilSpock2024-08-28 You Won't Want It To End! Gary Burr's "Reunion" is a triumph of a first novel and an absolute joy to read, especially for Beatles fans. Mr. Burr uses his professional experience in the music industry along with his personal connection to one of his subjects to create a world that is as authentic as it is entertaining.I had to remind myself more than once that this was indeed a novel and not a firsthand account of an actual historical event. Often if historical fiction misses it's mark, it's because the characters and their relationships to each other seem forced or lack credibility or the storyline itself is simply too far fetched to believe. Mr. Burr deftly avoids those pitfalls with crisp dialogue that feels more like behind the scenes banter and situational events that seem to resonate with the many historical accounts of the most documented musical group of all time.Mr. Burr's genuine love for his subject matter infuses and informs throughout. Once the characters in Burr's fictional journey begins, the question of whether or not something "really happened" seems insignificant. For one brief and beautiful moment, the Beatles are back together.I didn't want it to end. Amazon Customer2024-08-27 Love this book! Just wish it were all true! Beatles fans- don’t miss this fun tale! It captured personalities, threw in just enough of true events mixed in with the new bits to make it believable! Oh how I wish it was real! Pam Acme Antiquarian2024-08-27 A fantasy story that felt like I had awakened from a dream and the world was right again. Mr. Burr is a very popular and successful songwriter - he's touched a lot of hearts in his career and written some huge hits that continue to enrich our lives. In this book, he takes those of us who are of the generation who watched the Beatles debut on the Ed Sullivan Show and then write the soundtrack of our lives, on a "what might-have-been" journey in which the Beatles come back into our lives right when everyone assumed because of circumstances that would never have a chance in hell of happening. The premise is simple but the weaving of the tale is full of inventive twists and turns and plenty of humor and pathos. It's also priced as the bargain read of the year - I believe it will linger in your heart like a great song does – making you smile at unexpected moments.Load moreAmazon rating score: 4.9 of 5, based on 108 reviews
